Match Report- Hebburn Town (A)

King’s Lynn Town looked to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at home to Marine AFC as they travelled to the North East to take on high flying Hebburn Town. However the Linnets fell to a 4-2 defeat.

The hosts started strong. As Hollingshead was called into action within the first couple of minutes to deny a good chance from Matty Cornish.

As the first half progressed, the Linnets grew into the game with a good spell of possession. However little chances to show for it. With Ross Crane having the Linnets best chance within the opening 20 minutes, however his shot was blocked.

However in the 28th minute, the Linnets took the lead through Kwame Thomas. After the Linnets striker latched onto a delightful cross from Zak Mills on the right hand side. As Thomas slotted into the side netting for his first league goal of the season.

The Linnets looked to push for a second as Ross Crane went close to finding the target, however his effort went just wide of the target as the Linnets looked to take complete control.

However in the 36th minute, the hosts were level. As Aiden Heywood’s ball from the right hand side found Jake Charles on the edge of the area who despite slipping over, found the bottom corner.

The first half looked to be ending level as added time approached. But in the 45th minute, the Linnets retook the lead. As Ross Crane beat his man, flicked the ball around another before nutmegging a third finding himself one on one with Isaac Allen as he slotted the ball into the right hand corner. In what was a fantastic piece of individual brilliance from Crane to restore the Linnets lead.

The hosts started strong in the second half with a number of chances within the first 10 minutes however the Linnets defence held firm.

However in the 58th minute, Hebburn found their equaliser, as a good delivery into the far post found Liam Murray who was able to slot it past Hollingshead to make it 2-2.

Less than 10 minutes later, the hosts were in front. After a spectacular corner from Ethan Wood hits the post and finds its into the back of the net via a deflection. As the Linnets within 20 minutes of the second half, found their lead disappear, now finding themselves behind.

As time ticked away, the Linnets couldn’t find anyway back into the game as the hosts searched for a fourth and in added time, they got their fourth. As Josh Donaldson secured all three points for the home side.
