Match Preview - Scarborough Athletic (H)

Matchday six of the season sees King’s Lynn Town take on Scarborough Athletic at the Docherty Walks Stadium.

Scarborough will visit the Docherty Walks in high spirits having beaten Southport five-one on home soil in what is their third win of the season. New addition Mo Fadera was at the double in the first half with Jake Hull adding a third before the break. Rio Allan got his first of the afternoon four minutes after the break to make it four, with Southport getting a consolation goal three minutes after Scarborough’s fourth. Eight minutes prior to the ninety, Rio Allan scored his second of the afternoon to end any hopes of a miraculous Southport comeback. In the fifth minute of addition time Luke Burgess was shown a straight red card to make matters worse for the visitors.

With Lynn’s defeat on Saturday to Hebburn Town, a game two days later offers the chance to immediately bounce back.

For Scarborough, nine points from fifteen at the start of the new campaign sees them sit in the play-off places before tomorrow’s fixture, winning three, drawing zero and falling to defeat twice. All three of those wins for the Seagulls have been high scoring affairs. A comeback for the ages away against Hednesford Town on matchday two with the Seagulls scoring 3 in the final twenty-four minutes having been 3-1 down twenty-one minutes into the second half. After that, a comfortable three-nil home win against Spennymoor. A two-one loss to Chorley away from home before the five-one thrashing of Southport.

In the head-to-head stats between the two sides, since 2022, eight matches have been played, Lynn winning twice, Scarborough winning three times, and three draws to round off those eight games. Lynn haven’t beaten Scarborough since 2024 where they won by a goal on home turf thanks to an absolute thunderbolt from Greg Taylor from nearly thirty yards. Unleashed with power, darting into the top left, leaving memories for Lynn fans, and for me personally as that was the greatest introduction to working in non-league football I could’ve asked for.

As it’s been said already, this game is a big one, Lynn need to bounce back, Scarborough will be looking for back-to-back wins for the second time this campaign.
