After a busy Easter Weekend, King’s Lynn Town returned to action yesterday. As they travelled to Worcestershire to take on high flying Kidderminster Harriers. Where they fell to a 4-1 defeat.
The Linnets got off to a dream side at the Aggborough Stadium, as five minutes into the game Ross Crane gave the away side the lead. As the Linnets number 20 curled an effort from the edge of the area into the bottom left hand corner, to give Paul Caddis’ side a dream start.
King’s Lynn started very lively in the opening stages. With their best play was coming from counter attacks and set pieces. As the Linnets were very close to doubling their lead just five minutes later. As Ross Crane picked out an unmarked Tom Wilson at the back post. Who saw his shot cleared off the line.
However from the resulting clearance, Kidderminster countered, with Riley Reynolds driving at the Lynn defence and picking out an unmarked Kieron Donnelly who headed home to draw the sides level.
This goal changed the momentum of the game, as the Linnets were unable to respond, as the hosts began to take control and kept pushing for a second.
In the twenty first minute, the hosts took the lead. After the linnets defence made a mess of a cross from Reece Devine, the ball found the path of George Walker. Who was able to blast the ball home past Aaron Chapman as King’s Lynn found themselves behind.
Kieron Donnelly was unlucky not to have his second, after getting the better of Rhys Doherty and only being denied a spectacular headed goal by the gloves of Aaron Chapman.
However moments later, the Harriers had their third. As King’s Lynn could not clear the resulting corner and the bobbling ball found the path of Owen Evans. Who’s effort was blasted at Chapman. Who couldn’t keep it out, despite the fact the Linnets captain did something on it.
Kidderminster controlled possession from the first minute this afternoon. Making it so hard for King’s Lynn to play the football they wanted too. Even with the attacking talent out on the pitch. As the first half ended 3-1.
The second began with more of the same. As King’s Lynn Town really tried to get back into this game but the Harriers made it so difficult from them to do so. As Kidderminster continued to control the majority of possession.
Ten minutes into the second half, the hosts had their fourth. As Emeka Obi poked home from another dangerous cross, to kill the game off and giving the Linnets a mountain to climb.
Ross Crane had the Linnets only other effort at goal after a nice bit of play. However he skewed his effort well wide.
As the second half wore on, the home side took complete control. As they searched for a fifth, however the game ended 4-1. As the Harriers secured their playoff spot in some style.
A really disappointing afternoon for King’s Lynn Town, who now find themselves sitting just one place above the bottom four. There are two massive games remaining, with the Linnets playing their final game at home next weekend against Chorley.
A massive thank you to the 39 travelling fans today. Your support is always appreciated.
