King’s Lynn Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Carlton Ubaezuonu from Scunthorpe United on a multi-year deal as the striker joins the Linnets to strengthen their forward line for the run-in.
The 27-year-old South African-born striker arrives at the Docherty Walks to bolster the Linnets’ attacking options as the club enters the final stage of the National League North season.
Having started his career in the Republic of Ireland with clubs including Dundalk and Galway United, Ubaezuonu later moved to England where he finished as Chorley’s top scorer before joining Scunthorpe United. He played a key role in Scunthorpe’s promotion last season, scoring the winning goal in the play-off final.
He now arrives at the Docherty Walks looking to lead the line for the Linnets as the club enters the decisive final weeks of the season.
Carlton’s physical presence, relentless intensity and eye for goal make him a strong focal point for the Linnets’ attack and a player well suited to the playing style of Head Coach Paul Caddis.
Linnets Head Coach Paul Caddis said:
“Carlton is a magnificent signing for us. He has been successful in National League North with both Scunthorpe United and Chorley respectively and has also spent this season playing at the level above in the National League.
To bring in a player from the division above with the attributes Carlton possesses is a real positive for the football club. I’d like to thank the ownership group and Bal Srai for their support in getting the deal completed.
Carlton brings experience, character and the work ethic that we will need in the weeks ahead as we push to secure our place in the division.
We know how important these next weeks are for the club and the supporters, and Carlton is exactly the type of character who will embrace that challenge.
His signing also shows the ambition of what we are building at King’s Lynn Town.”
Chief Executive Bal Srai added:
“Carlton is a player we have been monitoring for some time as part of our recruitment plans to strengthen the forward line and we’re pleased to be able to bring him to the club.
I’d like to thank the ownership group for their continued backing and for making funds available to support strengthening the squad, along with Joe Simpson who has worked hard over a longer process to help bring the deal together.
We also appreciate the professionalism shown by Andy Butler and everyone at Scunthorpe United throughout the discussions.
We will continue to support Paul and the football staff if the right opportunities arise between now and the end of the window.”
